Maximum Contract duration: unlimited
SafetyWing offers lifetime coverage without any general limit, meaning they can continue as long as premiums are paid, making them suitable for long-term expatriation
Max. entry age: 64
The maximum entry age for Safetywing is 64 years. This entry limit applies to new applicants, while existing members can continue their coverage beyond this age.
Minimum duration: 12 Months
SafetyWing insurance has a 12-month coverage period, which may be renewed for the same duration. However, it’s not entirely clear whether renewal is guaranteed, as the insurer retains discretion in this matter, despite the policyholder paying premiums and meeting eligibility requirements. The coverage starts at 00:01 EST on the effective date and ends at 00:00 EST exactly 365 days later.
Before we even look into features of a plan we should check if the provider we're looking at is actually an insurance company or not. That's because you as an insured person are always in a week position if you don't ahve any legal support system on your side. With SafetyWing we have tried to find out where they are actually registered, who is representing them and in which country we'd need to meet them in court if it comes so far. But we couldn't find this information anywhere!

Telemedicine
Medical Evacuation and Repatriation
SafetyWing provides comprehensive support for medical evacuation and repatriation. In the event of an emergency requiring evacuation, it’s crucial to contact SafetyWing’s support team in advance to ensure approval and coordination. For Air Ambulance services, the transportation must be deemed a true emergency, and pre-authorization from the company is required. If you arrange evacuation or repatriation services independently, SafetyWing reserves the right to deny coverage for associated costs. This process ensures that policyholders receive the necessary care without unnecessary delays or additional expenses.
Newborn Care
Newborns can be added to the policy if a copy of the birth certificate is submitted within 90 days of birth. If not enrolled within this period, a new application must be completed, and the insurer reserves the right to request additional information or modify coverage conditions. Newborns from non-covered maternity or those resulting from fertility treatments do not qualify for automatic inclusion and will undergo full medical underwriting.

Dental Care
Emergency dental coverage is provided at 100% for treatments resulting from a covered accident, within the first 180 days. Other dental treatments are not covered.
Alternative Medicine and Therapies
Covers complementary therapies such as osteopathy, chiropractic care, homeopathy, dietitian consultations, and acupuncture, up to $60 per visit, with a maximum of 10 visits per policy year.
